DHI TECHNIQUE

WHAT IS DHI HAIR TRANSPLANTATION?

What is DHI hair transplantation?

DHI is a type of FUE hair transplant method which also involves the excision of grafts from the back of the scalp (donor area) but the main difference is the way in which the hair is implanted. In an FUE hair transplant, the hair transplant surgeon makes incisions over the entire scalp and places the follicular units into these incisions using forceps. However, the DHI hair transplant technique each hair can be implanted one at a time into the scalp without the need for any incisions using the specific tools called DHI Implanter.

1. The surgeon will trim or shave the hair on the back of the head which is called the Donor Area, an area that is not influenced by DHT hormones to facilitate the graft removal. Then the surgeon will inject your scalp with a long-acting, local anesthesia. You will be conscious throughout the hair transplantation process, but do not feel any pain.

2. After the local anesthesia takes effect, the surgeon will use the special DHI Implanter with a small 0.6-0.8 mm tip to carefully remove the hair follicles without affecting or damaging the hair grafts and surrounding hair follicles.

3. The strip is carefully dissected, trimmed and sorted into follicular units (grafts) by the hair transplant team. Each unit contains of different number of hair shafts and is carefully prepared for the transplantation. We keep the collected hair grafts in a special solution to increase survival rate and growth rate.

4. For the hair transplantation process, the trimmed grafts are placed in the DHI Implanter and are placed and implanted into the desired area (without prior incision as in FUE technique) without affecting the skin area several times. In addition, it can control the direction and the degree of the implanted hair follicles to give you more natural result compared to traditional FUE technique.

1. People with baldness problems due to pattern hair loss, who still have enough hair on the occipital area to be transplanted into the problem areas.

2. People who do not respond positively to medical treatments for hair loss.

3. People who suffer from hair loss due to trauma such as burns or lacerations. This hair transplant technique also helps conceal scars on the head.

4. People who have previously had a hair transplant with FUE technique but still have hair thinning problem.

No Scarring

The DHI hair transplant process does not require any incision which means that it does not cause a linear scar as in the case of an FUT hair transplant and does not cause small round scars in the areas from which hair is extracted, especially if the extraction points are too close together as in FUE process. However, with a DHI process, the hair extractions are well-distributed and so there is no scaring. With the special DHI Implanter with a 0.6-0.8 mm tip, the wounds are very small and heal fast. There is no need for a recovery period and in some cases, the patient can return back to his/her normal routine within the same day.

Consistent Results

In hair transplantation using DHI technique, a specialized tool called DHI Implanter is used to place and implant each hair, one at a time into the scalp. This tool can also control the depth, angle and the direction of the implanted hair follicles, so your new hairs grow as your natural hairs. This method provides more accurate and thicker results of hair transplantation compared to the traditional FUE technique.

Highest Graft Quality

DHI Direct Hair Implantation is a very safe procedure with low risk of complications and a very high rate (over 90%) of hair survival. Our DHI method is superior to other hair transplant methods currently available so let us show you how the DHI difference can help restoring your hair and your confidence, permanently.

DHI is a very neat process

An FUT hair transplant of 3,000 grafts generally takes about 4 – 6 hours while an FUE hair transplant takes 6-8 hours. However, DHI can take a lot longer which is why the treatment might need to be divided into the shorter sessions. If you want to complete the entire DHI procedure in a single day, it may take 8-10 hours.

1. DHI requires more attention than other applications.

2. The operation takes longer because it requires intensive attention.

3. Since the roots are planted without waiting, it requires more technical  time in order to achieve the same angle and proper planting.

In the DHI hair transplantation technique, since the channel is not opened, the crusting time is much lower than the conventional techniques and the healing process is very fast.

The hair goes through the process of crusting and shedding for 5-6 days after the operation. In 15-21 days, the ‘shock spill phase’ begins, then the spill progress slows down and stops.

After 3 months, new hairs become observable.

In the 6th month, we can see that the hair grows at a rate of 60-70%.

In the 12th month, we have reached the final state of the hair, we observe that the hair has grown to 99%.
